After teaching Inside Flow since September 2023, this is my first approved flow :) so I hope you all like it.
The song is called "Pillow in My Arms" by a young Artist, Griff. I have been falling in love with her voice for the past year, so I decided to challenge myself to create a flow with this song and demoed it during Flow Factory.
At face value, the song seems to be a person expressing their desperate yearning for someone after their supposedly a breakup.
The chorus goes -
"Ooh, then I dance
With a pillow in my arms
Oh, as if it has a heartbeat
Oh, as if it was your body, yeah
Yeah, I dance
With a pillow in my arms
Oh, as if it hears me talking
And it loves me in the dark"
But I would like to dedicate this flow to my mom as we have not been living in the same part of the world for most of my life. I went abroad to study at a young age, and somehow end up living away from my parents and all of my relatives. I have gotten so used to live without them that I cannot say that I miss them on a regular basis.
But everyone thinks of and longs for their mom when they are running sick and bedridden, and alone.
This song made me think of all those times, no matter at what age. All I ever wanted was my mom. I often gave her a call when I fell ill, and she would console me the best way someone can over FaceTime....
If a feeling of longing for someone - a friend, a parent - you have not had a chance to see or even hug for a while, maybe you would like to also teach and practice this flow while thinking of them. For me, that would be my mother because no matter how far apart we currently are and how long ago I actually got to hug her and be hugged by her, nothing could ever come close to your mother's embrace when you are lying sick in your bed.
Thanks to Eva & Inside Flow Sweden for organising the Stockholm Teacher Training in January 2025, and thanks to Ami for making this flow even more meaningful to me.
